Last night my son's band played in battle of the bands at a local school. This is the third year they have entered this contest. Last year was very stressful as they prepared with zest and on the night had technical problems that they could not rise above. Last night they were up against some fierce competition and played last in the line up. They were so emotional and nervous about the event and when they got on stage they blew the house down.
What I am grateful for is two fold. Not that they won, but that when they did they did not parade on stage, rather hugged each other. (Cool to see teenage brothers hug). And the other moment of gratitude came when my youngest expressed sincere respect and concern for someone he felt should have won. Even saying that he 'wished' he had come second to someone he thought brilliant.
I am grateful for my humble rockstars. Kai and Zac my sons, Matt my surrogate, and the livewire angel Basti. Well done guys and THANK YOU.
